FinanceSummary 2026
The financial year of 2025/26 has been marked by significant strides in financial management and strategic financial planning at Cotlands.
This year, despite various operational changes, we maintained a strong focus on strategic planning and budget management. We closed the year with a deficit of R65k, primarily as a result of increased operational demands and cost pressures experienced during the period. While the deficit represents a departure from our financial target, the outcome reflects the organisation's continued commitment to delivering on key priorities and operational objectives.
Throughout the year, the team remained diligent in managing funds and adhering to financial policies, ensuring that expenditures were carefully monitored and controlled wherever possible. This disciplined approach to financial management helped mitigate the impact of financial challenges and limited the deficit to R65k. Going forward, we remain committed to strengthening budget controls and identifying opportunities to improve our financial position and long-term sustainability.
Project income also continued
Project income also continued to be a significant part of our revenue stream, although the focus has slightly shifted towards local funding. The projects, particularly those focused on enhancing our toy libraries, have not only contributed financially but have also played a crucial role in advancing our mission. These projects have enabled us to expand our services and have had a direct impact on the communities we serve, particularly in terms of improving educational outcomes for children.
The strategic allocation of resources is fundamental to achieving Cotlands’ mission and ensuring that our operations not only sustain but also expand their impact on early childhood development. This year, our resource allocation strategies were carefully aligned with our strategic priorities, enabling us to maximise the effectiveness of every rand spent.
